@britishashley: American enthusiasm vs British pessimism from the perspective of a British person who lives in America. #fyp #uktousa #british #usavsuk #britishinamerica #ukvsusa #arizona #usa #americanculture #americancultureshock
This is why we are shocked to find out other countries don’t think our happiness and enthusiasm and friendliness is genuine because this really is just who we are as a people!

A huge part of American culture is that we love rooting for each other.

So true. ‘American freedom’ really has more to do with … freedom of mind - meaning, not everything is as codified as in Europe. In general, we like new ideas, people taking chances.

The USA is mostly made up of the people willing to take a risk and move across an ocean, not knowing what it would bring. We are the risk takers.

I was visiting my friend in the UK and literally had to ask him if he ever had anything positive to say cuz it was constant negativity. Threw him for a loop haha

I wonder if people in the U.K. feel kind of low because the sun doesn't shine there as much as here? Or at least thats what has been said about the climate there.

I heard an audio that went “I might be cringe, but you’re mean. And that’s worse.” And I think that really applies here

I’m just glad u enjoy it! I’ve seen a few videos of some who say Americans are annoying for it. I think enthusiasm can be contagious. Like in the karoke example. It’s more fun that you were all hype

I think it’s from having royals. As commoners you can’t do whatever in front of a royal. You must “stay in your lane”. We don’t have that here

I have read it started after World War II. The UK was hit really hard for a long time whereas America boomed from the military industrial complex. It’s built on generational attitudes in my opinion.

Eddie Izzard did joke in Dress to Kill being asked as a kid by career advisor what he would like to be, an astronaut, and advisor told him “You’re British, scale it back a bit”

My son is a very outgoing expressive person. He spent 4 months studying abroad in London and came home very depressed. He said there were days in the UK he could barely get out of bed.

I think a big part of American culture & society is loyalty. At the end of the day, we are very loyal to one another, our country & our hope for a better future for all!

My husband is French and everytime I got an idea to do something, he would shoot it down. Always question it and telling why it’s not a good idea or discourage me.
