When people hear
When people hear "hormone balancing," many dismiss it as a marketing gimmick aimed at those eager to lose weight. However, hormonal balance is crucial, particularly for those with conditions like PCOS. For me, balancing my hormones meant making practical yet specific lifestyle changes. I increased my daily step count to increase NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis), incorporated weight training, and adopted a low-carb diet to manage my insulin levels. Insulin, the key hormone for regulating blood sugar, significantly impacts other female hormones. High insulin levels can lead to insulin resistance, a common issue in PCOS, which disrupts the balance between hormones like oestrogen and testosterone. This imbalance can cause symptoms such as irregular menstrual cycles, acne, and excessive hair growth. By managing insulin through physical activity and diet, these hormonal imbalances can be mitigated. Weight training and eating a high protein diet is significant for increasing lean muscle mass, which in turn improves insulin sensitivity. A low-carb diet manages insulin levels. When we eat, insulin spikes. When we eat higher sugar, insulin spikes further. For those with PCOS (like myself) suffering with insulin resistance, our ability to manage those “spikes” are impaired, therefore contributing further to issues associated with insulin such irregular cycles, infertility, hirsutism, weight gain, fatigue. There are also very serious risks associated with PCOS and insulin resistance if left untreated. When insulin and other hormones are balanced, the body functions more optimally, helping to alleviate many PCOS symptoms and improving overall health. This holistic approach to hormone balance is not about quick fixes but about sustainable, healthy changes that have far-reaching benefits. * Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common hormonal disorder in women of reproductive age. It affects about one in 10 women and is more common in women from high-risk groups, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Of this, approximately 85% of women with PCOS have insulin resistance. It’s also important to note that still 70% of women affected by PCOS remain undiagnosed worldwide. #pcos #pcosweightloss #weightlosstransformation #weightloss #weightlosscheck #beforeandafter #pcossupplements #pcosdiet #loseweight #workoutmotivation #balancehormones #balancehormonesnaturally #hormonebalancingdiet #12weektransformation #12weekbodytransformation #lissworkout #fitnessworkout #upperbody #deadlift
