Transforming a Damaged Samsung Fold 4 into a Stunning W24 Model We recently received a Samsung Fold 4 from a fan troubled by severe creases on the large screen, significant dents on the frame, and a misaligned hinge. This European version of the Fold 4 had been flashed with the W23 system. However, the owner admired our previous modifications to the W24 appearance and wanted the same transformation for his device. Along with the aesthetic upgrade, he requested us to fix the screen crease and clean the hinge. Our process began by removing the small screen and protecting the front camera with a protective sticker. We unfolded the large screen and placed it on a heating platform to address the crease issue. Carefully, we removed the small clips and brackets around the screen, then peeled off the outer screen cover while applying alcohol to ease the process. Cleaning off the residual adhesive, we prepared the screen for the new cover. After ensuring the screen was functioning correctly with a quick power-on test, we aligned and laminated the new cover manually, achieving perfect alignment in one step. Minor bubbles appeared after removing the first protective film layer, but we planned to eliminate them using a bubble remover later. Next, we disassembled the back cover to protect the rear cameras. We removed all screws, speakers, wireless charging flex cables, and shielding covers, disconnecting the battery and all flex cables. After removing the SIM tray, sub-board, and mainboard, we reached the large screen, the most thrilling part of the disassembly. Using a blade and plastic sheet, we carefully separated the screen without causing damage. Inside the hinge, we found an excessive amount of dust - more than you'd find under a typical sofa! We replaced the old hinge with a new one from the W24 modification kit, ensuring it was clean and functioned smoothly. While reassembling, we noticed the hinge flex cable had cracks and promptly replaced it to prevent future issues. We meticulously reinstalled all components, including the magnets and screws, and cleaned the back of the large screen before reattaching it with new double-sided tape. The plastic brackets and small clips were reinstalled around the screen, and we proceeded to the finishing stages by reinstalling the battery, mainboard, and all flex cables. We also replaced the scratched small screen cover by laminating a new one and used a bubble remover to eliminate any residual bubbles from both screens. After the comprehensive reassembly, we powered on the device. The display was normal, and all functions worked flawlessly. The transformation was remarkable - the big gold frame and hinge gave the phone a high-end, classy aesthetic. What was once a battle-damaged phone had been turned into a stunning, like-new device.
