One of the things I see is teachers and coaches encouraging high baritones to pursue tenor rep because "they can probably do it" The high baritone voice is real - it's not a fake vocal fach🤣 As soon as you try to take a high baritone into tenor rep (that's not meant for tenor rep) the larynx will lock, the lower laryngeal muscles can engage, the root of the tongue can get tight and the list goes on and on. I'm not saying you shouldn't explore with your singers. Play with different vocal exercises and lines from Arias to test the waters.
