@local10news: A tornado was spotted Wednesday morning near Alligator Alley in Broward County. Tim Schwartzman of the Sawgrass Recreation Park saw it coming in. “I see the cell, I have my wife pull up and you can see it right across the highway,” he said. According to Local 10 meteorologist Brandon Orr, the tornado was in the Everglades and did not impact any homes or businesses. He said it’s hard to tell whether it actually crossed Alligator Alley. The sighting comes after the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch through 9 p.m. Wednesday for seven counties, including mainland Monroe, Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. South Florida is also under a tropical storm warning. According to Local 10 hurricane specialist Michael Lowry, southeast Florida – including the urban I-95 corridor between Miami and Fort Lauderdale – will see gusty winds as high as 40 to 50 mph, which should peak late Wednesday into the early morning hours Thursday, but damaging winds aren’t expected this far south. In Broward, Local 10 viewers also reported seeing tornados throughout the morning in Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Weston.
