my son is 1 week & 1 day, he’ll sleep through the night and it makes me nervous, I feel like he’s starving, they said don’t wake a sleeping baby but I’m a new mom so yes if my baby jus slept for 5 hours I’m waking him up

For everyone worrying about their baby not doing this- it’s almost 100% temperament

My pediatrician said I shouldn’t leave her sleeping more than four hours during the night and she’s already back to her birth weight. She’s about 7 pounds.

Might add that WAKING UP THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT IS NORMAL. If you had a baby you signed up for long nights🤷🏼♀️

The disclaimer that this is a unicorn baby and not the norm should have been right at the start of this video.

I get sleeping better, but a newborn sleeping through the entire night? Eh I don’t think that’s supposed to be the goal

All good tips- BUT- it also comes down a lot to temperament. We did this but still had 2-3 night wakings for months

Pediatrician told me not to let her sleep all night because her blood sugar will drop after so many hours without food. So we would sleep feed

They definitely don’t mean let them sleep 10hrs without feeding. They mean usually 5hrs max.

Nope. Never longer than 5 hours. This is actually dangerous. Please talk to your provider!

Waking up in the middle of the night is good for them because it reduces SIDs. Nursing in the middle of the night is very important for your supply as that’s when you make the most prolactin.

I highly suggest discussing it with your pediatrician! Mine said newborns not eating with more than 4hrs in between can have a negative effect on their blood sugar! 🫶🏻

some babies don't wake at night mine didn't i would wake to feed him. it's too long of a stretch when they need to eat every 2 to 3 hrs. DONT DO THIS.

It’s recommended to have them not in a hat when they sleep. The evidence doesn’t support it temp wise, and because they active sleep and it could fall over their face. - MB Nurse

Comment for new mums, most of the advice in this is pretty good, however there are a couple of things don't put a hat on your baby or anything lose like the shirt over them. the shirt idea is great
