we have always done diatomaceous earth making sure to get around the baseboards really well. sprinkle it leave for a week then vacuum or sweep up. repeat as needed

don't remove the floors if possible just sand the floors and then stain and add poly on them.

Set a lamp over a bowl with soapy water at night it will attract them and trap them.

When I moved into an apartment and infested with fleas. I doused the floors with Morton sea salt - went back 24 hours later all the fleas were in a pile dead and vacuumed

sadly the last tenant has said that the fleas are not because of her 8 dogs. She said it's because of stray cats under the house
