@audubonnature: Yes, bears really do love honey! 🐻🍯 But this honeycomb arrived in our black bear exhibit in a more nontraditional way. Recently, a nearly 200-year-old oak tree that was previously damaged by Hurricane Ida fell in Audubon Park. Audubon arborists worked hard to preserve the ancient tree as much as possible, but it unfortunately fell last week. While removing the tree, arborists found bee hives inside and called a local beekeeper to relocate the bees before it was removed safely. The bees left behind a gift - a large and full honeycomb! This honeycomb was the perfect sweet treat for our Louisiana black bears to enjoy. #blackbears #bears #honeycomb #cuteanimalsoftiktok #audubonzoo
