I’ll never forgive myself for not taking Mandarin in HS. I took 3 years of Spanish, it was fine. Fell in love with learning Mandarin almost 10 years later and wish I had found it earlier.

I think part of the reason English speakers struggle with tonal languages is because we use tones for other purposes and can't separate them. Like, sarcasm, etc.
