I thought it was the other way around, that Día de los Muertos inspired All Souls Day. That’s been the Church’s MO in a lot of things.

I find many of us grew up with grandparents who wanted their children to "fit in" during the 40's/50's/60's. This had led to a huge disconnect for many on traditions, history, etc.
