Don’t get rid of it. If you ever lose power you can still make coffee. We had an old coffee percolator we used all throughout loss of power during Sandy.

Every percolator I've had the water went into the bottom and boiled up into the grounds basket to percolate. Yours looks like it could work that way or the pour over type method you did.

Clean the entire pot with a sos pad till its shiny again, never put it in the dishwasher. The dull finish it has is caused by being washed with bleach in a dishwasher.

I grew up watching my grandparents use their percolator, and I had the hardest time adjusting to moka pots. I guess because they're backwards!
