i cut the hole in the bottom so i can just set it over a candle instead of lighting it from the top

you can also apply vaseline to the exposed flesh to keep it from drying out, but don’t use a candle if you do that lol

I have a large metal spoon with a grates and a pointed tip that works like a charm. I’ve had it so long I forgot where I found it. This is an awesome idea too!
