I heard this from a podcast and I love it - those experiencing psychosis are reacting to internal stimuli. You too (general) would act this way if you were hearing and seeing the things I was!

I suffered from a spiritual psychosis. I believed I had discovered or experienced some kind of religious awakening and was trying to explain it with scientific concepts.

Working as a therapist I’ve seen many people mask their symptoms in attempts to hide it from others too.

I know during my delusions, a big part of them is either "they'll think I'm crazy" or "if they know I know, bad things will happen",

Spot on. People don't realize this is why people go on untreated for so long. And even psychiatrists didn't want to diagnose me with anything right away even though they prescribed me antipsychotics.

I figured out a friend of mine was in spiritual psychosis recently. It was especially hard to figure out because I believe in a lot of things. It was so sad.

i saw my psych multiple times and was in both solo and group therapy and it still was missed for months. i held it together really well in front of people, i was more symptomatic when alone

Education on hallucinations is so important especially for those experiencing it that can’t identify with the media representation. Didn’t know I was psychotic until I was diagnosed with it.

My mom had schizoaffectivw disorder and I had no clue till I was 12. I only remember her doing odd things but never put it together until I was older. It’s truly not obvious to even the closest ppl

No one caught it in me for at least 4 years, probably longer. Common delusions have a theme of mistrust in others so naturally you hide everything. It looked a lot like depression from the outside.

I don’t know if I experienced psychosis but I do have irrational beliefs that I’m unaware I’m keeping secret until they pass. Is that a psychosis symptom?
