@martinlewismse: If you donate to charity, why saying yes to Gift Aid means they get more & you may get more too. Feel free to share, charities miss out on hundreds of millions of unclaimed Gift Aid each year.

I don't gift aid, if I want to donate £25 I give £25 not £20plus tax. Otherwise they just have to tax you another way. (£1.6bn 2024)

So the tax I pay would go to the charity?, that must mean whatever my tax was originally going towards now has to be covered by another tax revenue stream?

just don't donate, look after yourself, and not the charity's CEO. Just think where does the gift aid actually comes from?

I didnt understand the last bit with left over tax u can claim back. Do u have to donate that extra bit of tax left from the 40% tax or u get to claim n keep that.

DEAR MARTIN.. Can you donate to charity directly from your payslip before the deductions then get the tax refunded in the payslip rather than declaring at the end of the financial year ? 😁

I donate to charities but resist the gift aid option because that’s taking money away from the treasury and the other public services potentially suffer.
