@aribabox: Since we wanted to make the go-kart using mostly plywood, the pedal mechanism was one of the hardest things to figure out. And after multiple failed attem of making relatively complex solutions we decided to keep things as simple as possible - just a couple of hooks and a few parts to secure the main stick in place. To accelerate, all you would have to do is push the pedal forward.
