There's no incentive for the working/middle class to have children. There's no benefit to effectively going down to one income for a year with very little if no tax relief.

It's supply and demand. Not enough homes have been built for the increase in population so it becomes a scarce resource and increases in value.

Dad of 2 here, I bought my first house at 40, we had kids when we were renting, earning less and struggling. There isn't a good time to have kids, holding out till there is, if you want them, you will see your life go by, and regret it later on.

it's not just about having the finances to do it. lot of women are seeing that their mum had to do EVERYTHING and work, and we just don't want it anymore.

I do agree with you but the interest rates on mortgages back then was 11.20% rising to 18% in mid 80s you need to take that into consideration also when calculating these figures 👍
