Daddy built a bear.
Daddy built a bear.
I AM AWARE OF HOW LUCKY I AM. I know abus3 is prevalent in the tattoo industry. I know there are many sh1tty mentors out there. A good mentor CARES. When I moved to london at 25 I knew I wanted to go learn to tattoo but it felt like a dream that wouldn't come true. I spent time on my portfolio and finding studios. I get a lot more than most apprenticeships. These courses are a scam, preying on young and desperate people. Self teaching can be dangerous, but mostly takes you much longer to learn. Bad habits are easy to pick up. You spend so much money to then be left on your own. I have a permanent job at my studio for when I finish my apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are hard work, I work 4-5 days a week for free, I don't have savings and my job is self employment. It is hard, but it is so worth it. I have made connections, new friends, I go to conventions, met artists around the world who also want to see apprentices grow. 😆 some of them give me their spare unused needles. It's not a race to become a tattoo artist. Don't rush to be on skin. It's a huge responsibility and honour to tattoo someone. If you're struggling, keep going because it will come 🫶
