My fellow Namibians, this is extremely Disturbing & Heartbreaking to see a Landlord allegedly removing the main door 🚪 of a Rental Property because of a rental dispute. The other week, I saw a woman being filmed and publicly humiliated for allegedly failing to pay her Rent. How did we reach a point where financial hardship must be answered with humiliation and indignity? The reality is that Rental Prices have become increasingly Unaffordable for many of our People, while thousands of Namibians continue paying Rent year after year without getting any closer to owning a Home or a Piece of Land. It is precisely for this reason that we are busy with the registration of a New Association: TIRED OF RENTING ASSOCIATION OF NAMIBIA (TORAN). The idea behind TORAN is simple: Organise Namibians who are Tired of Renting and create a Collective, Structured Pathway towards Land and Home Ownership. If the circumstances shown are as reported, this family is now expected to Sleep without a Door 🚪 protecting them and their Children from Criminals, the Cold and other dangers. Whatever rental dispute exists between a Landlord and Tenant must be resolved Lawfully and with Human Dignity. We cannot continue watching our People spend their entire lives paying for Properties they will Never Own. Enough is Enough. It is time to organise. It is time to challenge the cycle of permanent Renting. It is time to move our People from TENANTS → LANDOWNERS → HOMEOWNERS. TORAN — From Renting to Ownership.
