What happened to you? Where’s that belly come from?! Unrecognizable, right? That's what a chronic illness can do to ya, feels like it stole the life I knew. Remember me, the yoga teacher, the pole dancing queen? I was at the gym three times a week, on my yoga mat every single day. 3 hour hikes were normal. But it wasn’t attainable bc of my insane work schedule. Burnout doesn't even begin to describe it. Six days a week, in two or three cities at once! Teaching Yoga in the morning, massage therapy clients in the afternoon, modeling gigs in between, then promo work and bar shifts at night AND an evening Yoga class. And don't forget the constant social media grind. My body was screaming, IF YOU DON’T STOP WE WILL MAKE YOU. Migraines twice a week, a constant headache every morning. Weekly vomiting from the migraines, fueled by my precious coffee just to keep going. I was exhausted. Healthy? On paper, yeah 100%. Clean eating, biohacking, super active. But I wasn't really listening to what my body needed. I wouldn't slow down, wouldn't switch off, until it shut down for me. No more workouts, no more work – trying to workout or even go grocery shopping, would have me spasming on the floor body jerking unable to move feeling like I’m being electric shocked all over my skull neck & arms, which would land me in the hospital, on m*rphine. So yah, this is my body now. I don't care if you prefer for the "healthy Terri." I'm grateful to be here man. My body knew I wasn't safe, and it took drastic measures to protect itself, to keep me alive. And you know what? I AM alive AF. To everyone that says ‘our bodies change & thats okay’ I used to think oh SHUT UP & stop making excuses, but I get it now, it’s legit okay if our bodies change, they can fluctuate & what would it look like if you loved yourself instead of criticising your body exactly as you are??
