F-16 Crew Chief here, alot of maintainers are always behind the scenes. Never really get the recognition that some deserve. But thats not all in vain, it has a love hate relationship like any job.

Yep...still remember my Dad's old squadron commander correcting a pilot when he said, "my plane". Colonel Rayburg told him, "No sir...that's HIS plane.", and pointed at the Master Crew Chief (Dad).

I moved to an air base just under a year ago. Not even 2 weeks later I seen a hornet flying by at about 2000 feet, nose up and full after burn. It was so cool lol

Indeed it does take “an entire city”;entire Air Force enlisted force is “support”,with the front line combatants being officers (an interesting distinction from the other branches of service)
