@tim.osterhus: If only that was how that worked… You need to build muscle to look “toned.” My physique is much more similar to Brad Pitt in Fight Club than Sam Sulek’s, but I lift heavy weights 80% of the time. While it’s possible to build solid muscle in higher rep ranges, that mentality of being scared of heavy weights is likely going to prevent any kind of intense training. This type of mindset will result in 2 years of training and 5, maybe 10lb of muscle gain. Lifting heavy isn’t necessary, but lifting hard is.
