I hate this gotcha question. It's only eastern most from the date line. you wouldn't stand in Alaska and say that California is to the west.

East and West are relative. yes we at some point said "this line we put there is 180°, the opposite line is 0°". but no matter where I am on the globe, East is always right and West always left...
