There is a topic coming up again and again in health right now, and peptides are at the centre of it which has made me want to understand what is actually going on… When I told my team I wanted to do an episode on peptides, they sent me a long list of doctors I could speak to but there was one person they kept coming back to. That person was Dr Alex Tatum. And after this conversation, I understood why. Alex has spent over a decade studying this space, and one of the reasons I wanted him on is because he has a rare ability to explain complex things in a way that actually makes sense. I didn’t have a clear idea of what peptides even were before we spoke but now I do. Alex explained to me that peptides are tools and like any tool, they only make sense when you know what you’re trying to build. We spoke about: - Why have peptides suddenly become so popular? - How different peptides can do different things! - Why the FDA banned peptides? Are they safe to take? - What people should consider before ever taking them. What surprised me in this conversation is just how targeted peptides are. They’re not like traditional medication that affects everything at once. They’re designed to act on very specific systems in the body and in some cases, that means they can influence things like weight, recovery, energy, and even fertility. But as we got deeper into it, I found myself asking a more important question: how does someone actually know if this is right for them? because like a lot of things in health, it’s easy to hear about results and skip straight to “what should I take?” And Alex was very clear on this: You don’t start with the solution. You start with the problem. If you’ve been hearing about peptides and don’t fully understand what they are or how they fit into your health, this episode is for you. #podcast #health #peptide #doctor #glp1
