🔥🍂 Mabon/ The Autumn Equinox 🍂🔥 20th -23rd of September, Northern Hemisphere. Day and night are once again of equal length. Light and dark, masculine and feminine, in perfect balance. The Earth's cycle is now moving towards its yearly completion, and the darkening nights are drawing in. The Autumn Equinox is the doorway to winter and the dark half of the year. This festival prepares us for the change in the Earth's energy. It reminds us to reflect on the year gone by, to be thankful for the abundance of summer, whilst helping us transition into the waning half of the year. This is an ancient festival which held great significance to our ancestors, who built stone monuments in alignment with this solar event. It is also the second of the harvest festivals - an important time for our ancestors who relied on good crops to make it through the winter. In the natural world, the sap is returning to the roots of the trees, the flowers and plants of summer fade back to the warm earth, and the animals prepare for hibernation. The Summer is over, and a new transformational phase has begun. This is the beginning of root energy, looking within ourselves to bring rest, balance and renewal within the dark. Just as with the plant world, we too must now return to ourselves, homes and hearth, as it is a time for inner work, healing, and a connection to nature.
