Honestly when you aren’t doing the big pipe all the time there’s no sense in buying one. I’ll sometimes do 2.5” and up a couple times a year can’t justify buying the bigger cutters for that.

The right way to cut big pipe with a bandsaw, don't fprget to bevel the end with a paddlewheel so it slips in the fitting easier, big pipe is always a pain.

The tubing cutters are a one use tool and for 1-1/2” and up they cost way too damn much to justify buying them anyways. Many other tools can cut the big pipe and be used for other work too

as much as it nice to be taught to do things nice and proper. it would be better if you taught the guy how to hold a band saw straight and just cut the pipe instead of doing all that. or pipe cutters.
