We're proud to officially announce that award winning young trailblazer Elizabeth Taban has joined our team. Elizabeth's focus has been on empowering the youth by facilitating sport programs for culturally and intellectually diverse young people. She has been a staunch advocate for inclusivity in women’s sports, particularly for African females pursing football. Her efforts in breaking down those barriers began in creating an African women’s competition to compete in the South Australia African Cup of nations tournament in 2019. After a year of raising awareness and advocating for change, African women's participation in the tournament doubled. Her efforts were recognised and highlighted in an SBS news report titled “Adelaide's African-Australian women are fighting barriers stopping them playing football”. Elizabeth is leading and influencing positive change through sports, and is pioneering change in the women’s game. Her work is helping younger women from diverse backgrounds and journeys realise their potential in finding success and purpose.Elizabeth is regularly involved in facilitating various projects, coaching, focus groups and community events. Elizabeth has received multiple awards recognising her efforts, including award winner of 2022 Young African South Australian Award at ACCSA inaugural Africa Day Celebrations held on the 27th May 2022.Elizabeth has already started recording interviews, videos, one of which was posted here last week. She's also working on a couple of our offline projects. We're excited to have Elizabeth on our team 🎉 #africanaustralian
