@moreperfectunion: Just four airlines control 80% of the airline industry — the most concentrated it’s ever been. And they’re using their power over consumers, and airports, to jack up prices. But this small airport in Missoula, Montana, is showing how to break the major carriers’ stranglehold. #labormovement #corporategreed #workersrights #airlines
But but they told us that capitalism breeds innovation

I used to love flying but hate it now-it’s expensive for less quality,no carryons, no checked bags, less seat space, can’t recline. expensive to even fly within the states.

Every industry in the U.S. feels like it’s like this. It also feels like every company is taking advantage of consumers. I wonder if the bubble will ever burst.

In my freshman year I was able to fly home to MN from Chicago on spirit for $45-70 round trip. Spirit stopped that route and I couldn’t get a flight for less than $200. Megabus became my only option.

The most American thing I see is how people will mock Spirit because it's affordable. It's insane

can't believe you didn't mention miles rewards programs. the biggest airlines make most of their money selling points to banks and credit card companies

Southwest use to be so economical and amazing since the two free bags, but lately they’re as expensive as Delta and American 😵💫

This is really informative. These big airlines and their lobbyists are shameful. Not surprising, but shameful nonetheless.

I just got $750 worth of travel credit after reporting United to the FAA after they canceled and offered less than market value vouchers. Would’ve appreciated a refund but a minor win is better than no win.

This is so interesting! Flights from NYC to Michigan (1hr and 20mins) consistently are $500. Used to be half that. Glad to know what to focus on when complaining about the industry!

It is often possible for me to fly more cheaply to Europe than within the US. Europeans can fly from city to city, internationally, for less than $100 regularly. Why can’t we do that within the US?

That’s what I don’t get, if the airports are funded in part by the feds - why the heck are airlines allowed to claim any parts of them. You get to use it for what you pay, period. No permanent anything.
