Millennials said no thanks too until they had more debt and needed to move into management to get the pay increase they needed.

Every manager I’ve ever worked under is miserable.

And if you’re a middle manager, you have no real power to change anything but you get the blame in both directions when things don’t work.

I’m an elder millennial and I already knew a long time ago I never wanted to be management.. my peace is more important than a couple more dollars

Yes, leadership development and mentoring is essential. I consider it my duty to mentor the next generation and makr it so they don't face the hostility the milennials faced when entering the workforc

I totally agree. My boss recently offered me a higher position but I said no because of the broken system & lack of direction.

I’ve always thought it was crazy that to get raises you need to become a manager but not everyone makes a good manager…

I did the management thing one time for a year. Never again. Back to IC 10 years ago and never happier

we would also benefit from shorter hierarchies. there doesn't need to be 12 layers of management between the highest and lowest position in a 50 person company

IAM on strike for the 5th time. Listen to the employee's to eliminate roadblocks know you work for them this gives you instant credibility. Your bosses will hate you for it but start there.

So as a director, there are people like me willing to mentor or help. Maybe ask?

People are finally realizing that management, especially middle management, delivers little if any value. As a generation of creators grows, if you don't produce why do that job?

Yes! I’m actually impressed and thankful an entire generation is saying no thanks. It’s an opportunity for real change to a truly toxic system!

Managers haven’t managed is 20 years or more. They don’t train, they aren’t good role models, turnover is insane. No one invests in their people. They SAY they do, but they don’t.
