How long do NPD splits last? Could it last months, and would it make sense with NPD that they would reach out to people from the person they’re splitting on’s past for “dirt” or general humiliation?

Every single disorder splits!!! You are in arrested development where you can’t see people as BOTH bad and good. You can only see yourself as all good or all bad, and same for how you see others.

The lashing out part and playing cold is similar to an aspd split. When I split I split black so I’ll ignore and then send a nasty discard text to the person who I believed has wronged me
