African in Iran 🇮🇷 I Met the Locals… Then I Discovered a History I Never Knew 😳🌍 Sometimes travelling doesn’t just change the way you see another country. It changes the way you understand the world. My trip to Iran did exactly that for me. 🇮🇷❤️ Before travelling to Iran, much of what I had seen and heard about the country from outside was centred around politics, conflict, restrictions and tension. But when I arrived and started experiencing everyday life for myself, I began seeing another side of Iran. A side filled with ordinary people. Families. Laughter. Food. History. Culture. Conversations with complete strangers. And kindness. As an African traveller in Iran, I genuinely didn’t know what to expect. But every morning when I walked out onto the streets, I felt excited to see what the day would bring. People would smile at me. Some would stop and speak with me. Others wanted to know where I was from. “Which part of Africa are you from?” When I told people I was from Ghana 🇬🇭 with Nigerian Heritage 🇳🇬, those little conversations would sometimes turn into much longer ones. People recommended places for me to visit. They told me about their country. They asked about Africa. We laughed, took pictures together and sometimes spoke for far longer than I expected. The beautiful kind Iranian woman standing beside me in this photograph represents one of the things I will remember most about this journey, the human connections. ❤️ I came to Iran as a tourist. But I discovered history that I had never thought to ask before. I learned something that genuinely fascinated me: Iran has an African-descended population. 🌍🇮🇷😳 There are Black Iranians — often described today as Afro-Iranians — whose communities have deep roots particularly in southern Iran. And before travelling there, I knew almost nothing about their history. That sent me down a completely different road of discovery. 🌍 Africa and Iran have been connected for centuries. And I am curiosity to discover another chapter of African history thousands of miles away from Africa. 🌍❤️🇮🇷 🎥 The Journey Continues…. ✈️🇮🇷 FOLLOW AND SHARE FOR MORE 🙌🏾 #iran #iran #tehran #trending #fyp
