@hedgerow_healing: Bryn Celli Ddu 🌄 This has got to be one of my all-time favourite burial chambers, and many a Summer Solstice has been spent on top of this mound, watching the Druidic ceremony and waiting for the sun to rise and illuminate the passage way into the chamber. It is one of Wales' most famous burial chambers as it is the only one that aligns with the Solstice Sunrise. It is a late Neolithic chamber, constructed in two stages and built to house human remains. The bones of most likely local chieftains that were buried here have long since been removed during excavations for safety. Around the back of the chamber (which I think aligns with the Winter Solstice), there is a replica of a carved standing stone that has also been safely removed in case of any damage caused. The replica shows the same exact spiral markings that were carved into the original stone, and even though it is a replica, it is still incredibly beautiful.
