the Spartans got many of their ideals about battle and women from the Vikings(norse) had much of the same treatment. women were in charge of the house and the money as math was considered a form of magic that only women could know. they could divorce and they would keep the home and land and wealth, the husband was considered dishonored and normally was sent out of the village. women also went into battle shield maidens aren't made up they existed they would fight along side men and were considered far more frightening then their male comrade's. women could travel alone marry who they wanted, drink swear and fight... I believe it was a Norse tribe that made it's way to Greece and eventually became the Spartans. though not sure how much proof is in it

Sparta also worshiped an aspect of Aphrodite that was as much a love and beauty goddess as she was a War goddess also Ares was also known as a protector of women as well as all the war stuff

Spartan women weren't expected to be on par with men. Spartans would be taken as kids, thrown into the wilds to fend for themselves. Search the notorious Melanos Zomos, basically a blood soup

I am very hesitant to believe any of this. Sparta was hyper focused on strength, that they didnt leave any info on themselves behind. 99% of what we know are by other accounts from visitors.
