Oh my goodness… I relate! I have lived in San Diego twice (I’m English) My husband and I crave “proper” Mexican food. Usually have to make it at home with ingredients purchased in America

Go to a Turkish market & buy the various peppers 🫑🌶️, roast them in the oven & then blend them to make your own salsa. It’s the only way bc the pre-made “salsa” they sell in UK/EU stores is NOT IT.

Totally agree. Tex mex is another level in the US. It's the same with Italian food in the US though. So many of them moved there yet nobody can make good Italian food, it's all American slop.

Not really no, the proliferation of ethnic food is driven by colonisation, immigration and proximity- neither of which apply to 🇲🇽 and 🇬🇧 but do apply to 🇲🇽 and 🇺🇸
