Only time you don’t return something full fuel or how was is if it’s a 2 stroke or a chainsaw you typically don’t touch the chain. Some people get crazy over how the chain is sharpened or what 2 stroke oil is used.

I do the same every time I use my cousin’s equipment. It’s alway picked up empty and dirty, but it’s returned full and clean. His own employees don’t do that
