BREADY FOR THE HOLIDAYS: Easy Christmas Tree Scoring🎄 Here is how I reshape a batch of focaccia dough into a crusty loaf of bread…but this time with a cute little Christmas tree scored on to it. This is great pattern to start with if you’re new to creating bread art. Normally I say you can just score your bread with a serrated knife, but I do recommend using a razor for this pattern since you want the tree to be symmetrical. You can find super inexpensive bread lames and razors/bread lame blades online. Just before you pop the bread in the preheated pot, sprinkle over a little flour and make the cuts as shown in the video. I add some gentle strokes to create texture for the bark on the trunk and use sharp scissors to make cuts that will be the tree’s branches. Full details for the method are in my book, but if you’d like to give it a try the dough recipe is pinned at the top of my page here. Once the dough is finished proofing in the bowl, I shape it as shown in the video, place the mixing bowl over as it rests and preheat a cast iron pot or Dutch oven for 30 minutes at 240C/465F. Score the bread and bake for 40 minutes or so with the lid on. It may take a few more minutes to reach your desired colour. Enjoy! #breadmaking #christmasbaking #christmasbread #breadtok
