As October, Eczema Awareness Month, comes to an end, I want to dedicate a heartfelt message to all my fellow eczema warriors. Living with eczema is not just about managing flare-ups or finding the right cream—it’s a journey of resilience, courage, and constant inner battles that most people will never see. Skin conditions like eczema are often dismissed as purely physical. Society tends to look at the visible symptoms and forget the toll it takes on our minds and emotions. But for those of us living with this condition, the struggle goes far beyond the surface. It’s a daily, sometimes hourly, fight to resist the urge to scratch, to face ourselves in the mirror, and to go out into the world feeling vulnerable and exposed. Personally, I have struggled deeply with my mental health due to eczema. It’s hard to describe the exhaustion that comes from constantly battling your own body. When your skin is inflamed, it can feel like it’s on fire. When it cracks or bleeds, it brings a raw pain that’s hard to ignore. These physical symptoms weigh heavily on the mind, creating a cycle of frustration, self-doubt, and, at times, self-blame. It’s easy to feel isolated, as if no one truly understands the depth of what you’re going through. Living with eczema can erode your confidence and sense of self-worth. The itch and discomfort keep you up at night, robbing you of rest and clarity. Mornings become a challenge as you wake up to fresh wounds. And yet, every day, you gather the strength to get up and keep going. To cover up when you want to hide, to soothe your skin when you feel like giving up, and to show up in a world that may not fully understand the courage it takes to do so. To all my fellow eczema warriors: I see you. I know the courage it takes to walk this path, the strength you muster every day to love yourself despite what your skin may look like. Let’s continue to raise awareness and offer each other the support and understanding we deserve. You are not alone in this, and together, we are stronger. Keep fighting, keep healing, and remember that your worth goes so much deeper than your skin 🧡 Idea creds: @Sophie Dove #eczema #eczemahealing #skincondition #MentalHealth
