I believe you're 100% correct because the computer absolutely does look for correlation between the sensors. No correlation, no spark or fuel delivery.

I wish I had the money to bring my 07 Lincoln mkx to y’all. It overheats only when the ac is on & I got no heat after I had the radiator flushed. The guy that works on it doesn’t know what’s happening

it's crazy how the smallest things can cause the biggest head scratchers. I remember when I swapped my engine I neglected to put the fuel lines back on the proper lines. couldn't figure it.

I rebuilt a dodge 318, it would misfire under load, could not figure it out, spent $3k for a shop to replace computer, rebuilt granny, and still not fixed. ended up it was a cracked spark plug.

Had a guy do this on a 22 plate Daf after a clutch replacement . it ran if you unplugged the crank sensor because it only had one data reference to go from 😂✔️

The guy that did the job is new or JUST STARTING out,not focused on integrity and or perfection,to miss apin.or Even 4 balance Glad rest was built.IE completeTimings chains are way HARDER but learning

Without cam sensors, if it did spark, it wouldn't run that way. With cam sensors, the disagreement with the crank sensor will tell the computer not to fire.
