There are no fixed positions. A lot of the content out there seems to suggest otherwise — a "correct" tongue position, a "correct" palate, a shape to lock into and hold. But the vocal tract doesn't work that way. Its configuration changes constantly: with the text you're singing, with the pitch, with the way you're producing the sound. It adapts moment to moment. So the quality worth developing isn't the ability to find one rigid position and stay there. It's mobility. Flexibility. The freedom to let the tract reshape itself as the music demands. And there's a second point that matters just as much: vocal setup is personal. What serves one singer may not serve another. Your instrument, your repertoire, your goals — they all shape what "efficient" actually means for you. Which is why my advice on any technical suggestion, including mine, is the same: try it. Test it. Then ask two questions. Does it actually serve what I'm trying to do? And can I sustain it over time?
