What kind of torch / gas? I have used a butane torch and it gives me tiny air bubbles/pockets.

tried with a butan torch on a small piece, really bad result and bubble everywhere. He use a acetil torch, home torch will not work...

Yeah many people consider as Bullet proof what people call multi layered glass. in this case acrylic is more like part of it bcos it is used as one of the layers( at least in CNC machines) to hold the glass layers together when they are shattered. its's like a skelleton of buletproof glass. But there are also special acrylic compound with extra hardness that may indeed be called buletproof
