So real. My parents were never PHYSICALLY abusive, & my dad worked as a CPS investigator, my mom was a social worker, & my stepdad was a cop. I was gaslit, minimized, & blamed whenever I told anyone.

man I remember when I tried to open up about it to my highschool counselor and he’s like “oh everyone’s family is complicated it’s no big deal” and as an adult I’m like AAAAHHHHHH NO not like that

Like the time i had to be bolt cut out of a gym locker bc i was padlocked in, the administration didn’t do anything and told me to go to class.

I tried multiple times to tell adults about what went on at my dad’s house in middle school and was always dismissed. Once they even called my dad and stepmom to confirm as if they would admit it lol

i tried to reach out about my depression in high school and was told that I didn't have anything to be depressed about. it took me failing all my classes one semester in college to be taken seriously

I remember confiding in my friends that I think one day my father would kick me out of the house and one of them was like” no he wouldn’t do that, your dad loves you”- a year later he did exactly that

At 16 the state told me to move out so that my little brother wouldn't be traumatized from the abuse. I could take care of myself.

And it seems like adults hate you just because you are a teenager, everyone assumes that you are difficult, and if you’re not you are probably hiding something 🙄 hated it

Taking courses and passing them, does not equal actually learning the material or retaining it. I think this happens so often on important subjects.

I told my youth worker about my mother beating me and she goes “well I won’t report it bc you have enough on your plate already 🥰“. I didn’t realise she was friends with my mum until years later lol

my principal pulled me out of class to talk to me about a sudden drop in grades. I cried and told him about what my sister was doing. and nothing changed

everyone told me I should be grateful it wasn't worse. which now at 29 I'm stable. But I had to accomplish that alone. and I really resent that every time I reached out for help I was mocked or hurt.
