@jellyroots: surely making a kid feel like abuse is normal will have no negative consequences later on #fyp #fypシviral ##WomenOfTikTok #abuseawareness #abusesurvivor #traumatok #trauma #traumahealing #itgetsbetter #religioustrauma
So real. My parents were never PHYSICALLY abusive, & my dad worked as a CPS investigator, my mom was a social worker, & my stepdad was a cop. I was gaslit, minimized, & blamed whenever I told anyone.

School principal said to me "sometimes, when someone is being singled out, the group is right" anyway I still have trouble sustaining friendships and being part of a group

I tried multiple times to tell adults about what went on at my dad’s house in middle school and was always dismissed. Once they even called my dad and stepmom to confirm as if they would admit it lol

I think they were unwilling to have a mildly uncomfortable conversation with another adult, so to avoid that they threw us under the bus.

i tried to reach out about my depression in high school and was told that I didn't have anything to be depressed about. it took me failing all my classes one semester in college to be taken seriously

I remember confiding in my friends that I think one day my father would kick me out of the house and one of them was like” no he wouldn’t do that, your dad loves you”- a year later he did exactly that

I told my therapist about the physical abuse and she confronted my parents. My parents blamed me (obvs) and then the therapist told my parents to call the cops on me then so they threatened that…

This is so real. I told everyone I could. Guidance counselors, therapists, teachers, and literally not a single person did a thing. Sucks to see how many people this happened to

A lot of adults don’t see kids as people which is why they dismiss a lot of concern kids will have or maybe worse they see kids as adults who could have made better choices. I swear

It really does get better as you get older, heal yourself, and build the best life you can where you make the rules and safety.

Literally same, bar-for-bar. But because I still got assignments done, it wasn’t a real concern, nevermind the cost of it all.

At 16 the state told me to move out so that my little brother wouldn't be traumatized from the abuse. I could take care of myself.

because they do not care and take the job on to fulfil their ego , a lot of people forget what it's like to be a child or don't realise because they weren't conscious then

And it seems like adults hate you just because you are a teenager, everyone assumes that you are difficult, and if you’re not you are probably hiding something 🙄 hated it

Taking courses and passing them, does not equal actually learning the material or retaining it. I think this happens so often on important subjects.

everyone told me I should be grateful it wasn't worse. which now at 29 I'm stable. But I had to accomplish that alone. and I really resent that every time I reached out for help I was mocked or hurt.
