I got to college without developing proper study skills, so that was a mess. And my perfectionism when it comes to STARTING a new thing can still be crippling.

a great example of this is I was a gifted kid and I can't take notes or study because I never learned how because I didn't need it as a child

I was always a gifted kid but I also was constantly putting in the work; now I’m completely burnt out in life. I struggle to put in nearly as much effort as my old standard and it messes w me 🥲😭

I was in the gifted program but had a bad family life and low income so I had to choose to work over the educational programs I was accepted into. I would say I have a growth mindset though.

This was me but I just developed toxic self talk to motivate me to “make it happen”- and I did. But then I burned out after 3 degrees, a Fulbright, and becoming a doctor. Now I barely dress myself.

Additionally, gifted kids have poor social skills. ie Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. High Achievers are about as smart, but are more socially “normal”.

That’s why we put our gifted kid in sports, theater and dance. All things he wasn’t gifted in so he had to learn to fail and get better!
