Everything we’re bringing from @REI Co-op👇🏼 It’s getting colder, which I’m half stoked on, half crying about summer being gone!! I run REALLY cold, so packing layers for a fall backpacking trip (or even hike) can be really tricky because it’s very easy to overdo it and have way too much extra weight. I finally feel like I’ve narrowed down exactly what I need, and a few high quality layers have served me far better than lots of lesser quality ones. At this point we are always matching because once one of us gets a good piece of clothing, the other wants it 😂😭 Here is everything we bring on a colder weather trip: REI Co-op Sahara Shade Hoodies: we’ve shared about these so many times now, but honestly can’t stop raving about them. These are what we hike in on every trip. They’re odor resistant, SPF 50+ fabric, and are a really breathable material that keeps you cool in the sun and comfy in the shade. REI Co-op Trailmade pants: these are lightweight hiking pants that we both wear all the time. They come with a waist belt string to adjust, they’re breathable, and they dry quickly! REI Co-op baselayers: for both top and bottom, these merino wool baselayers will keep you warm and dry even if they get wet. Merino wool is odor resistant and breathable while keeping you super warm! This is ideal for hanging out at camp, and is also used if it gets colder during the day to layer under our hiking clothes. REI Co-op Trailmade Fleece: a really cozy mid layer that still packs well!! REI Co-op Magma 850 Hoodie: I cannot say enough good things about these jackets. We actually wore them on our entire trip to Ecuador climbing volcanoes. They ended up getting wet and covered in ice and we STILL stayed warm on the inside. 850 fill provides a really high warmth to weight ratio, making it the best packable really warm layer.
