@visit_zealandia: Replying to @leighturtle done! 🥹 Holding a kiwi may look just like cradling a baby, but it’s actually an intricate process! It’s important to stabilise the legs and hold them in their back to make sure they’re comfy and safe 🥹 We found 59 birds in our recent kiwi pukupuku/little spotted kiwi survey, and 47 of them were unbanded! This means that they recently hatched here at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne since the last survey was conducted in 2018 and that the population is increasing 😊 16 of them were juveniles or chicks, like the one in the video!
