The Honor of Standing in Reverence: Peer Naseer-ud-Din Naseer on Milad-un-Nabi Just as there is an eager anticipation during Milad-un-Nabi, so too will there be anticipation on the Day of Judgment. The Holy Prophet ﷺ will be standing, awaiting an arrival out of profound respect. Otherwise, seating could easily have been arranged. If human beings can arrange seating, does the Almighty Creator not have the means to do so? Sacred traditions state that the Prophet ﷺ will be standing. Alongside him, the spiritual ranks—the Aqtab, Awliya (saints), Nujaba, Aghwash, Abdal, Nuqaba, as well as scholars, jurists, exegetes, traditionists, and intellectuals—will all be standing. Even the great assembly of Prophets will remain standing, leaving a single prayer mat empty in eager expectation. When Prophets themselves stand and wait, why should anyone object if believers spend a few moments standing in honor of the Prophet's blessed birth once a year? If the noble Prophets stand in reverence, humble believers hold no comparison to their lofty stature. Therefore, those who stand at the dawn of the Prophet's birth during Milad-un-Nabi should not face criticism. No reasonable person—especially someone well-versed in Hadith—should raise objections. When scholars teach these traditions, they ought to reflect on why everyone is waiting. Even Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), the respected forefather of the Prophet ﷺ, will be standing in honor of his noble descendant. When great ancestors stand in reverence, ordinary people have no place to question such respect. Whether it is his arrival on the Day of Judgment or remembering his birth in this world, spending a few moments standing in respect should never be met with decrees of disbelief (Takfir). Standing up for a teacher or an elder is a universally accepted sign of honor. It was the Prophet ﷺ who taught humanity how to respect elders, value relationships, and practice true etiquette. Without his guidance, basic manners between the young and the old would not exist, as he is the one who instilled true honor and discernment in human hearts
