someone asked, if we're the one paying what are Canada, Mexico, China and other countries worried, here's why, by raising tariff to those countries, people/companies will start buying more local product to avoid tariffs and countries that import stuff to US will lose buyers, in another word, less import = less money for that country 😉.
I tried my best to explain, I hope people get it, remember if a certain product can only be found in China for example, companies will be forced to buy that product there anyway and charge more to customers to cover the tariffs and this can also be (will in fact be) very damaging for the US as well because there's quite a few stuff that we consume here comes from other countries and even if we have those product here also it may not be enough to attend the demand so we will need to buy from other countries anyway 😒😒 (specially now where farmers lost almost all their illegal employees production will be affected) but it is what it is 🙄

The part that I think is missing from the conversation is that the expectation is that it’ll reduce the imports from China and increase products manufactured here in the US. Not sure if it’s working.

if the iPhone 16 was made in the US, (assuming you had the raw materials) it would cost well over 2500-3000$ instead of 800$
