@vvundertone: When I first began posting videos I got comments like “that’s not how you mic such n such” or “you’re doing it completely wrong 🤣” got me thinking. Is it true? Hell no. I use my ears not eyes to achieve unconventional sounds. So of course to someone that studied what looks weird is “wrong” but trust me…you unlock the magic, the holy “otherness” in the weird. Don’t be afraid to use microphones unconventionally. You don’t have to repeat what you been taught or see others doing. And if you been doing the same style for a minute maybe it’s time to switch it up? Play with placement. Bring your microphones a foot away from the source to introduce room. Try non-matched stereo recording. It’s literally endless.
