If you have someone positive for RA or lupus and they have a while to wait for the rheum appointment do you start them on some form of treatment in the meantime or leave it to rheum?

we also usually order an Analyzer through Quest Diagnostics which checks a complete autoimmune panel. it's super helpful!

A little note, some of the autoimmune labs may come back positive with cocaine use. I’ve had rheum refs denied without a subsequent negative urine tox (which I of course explain to patient) 🙃
