It’s time to start planning your summer New York adventures! If you love chasing waterfalls, then Watkins Glen State Park is a must visit!! 💙 The Gorge Trail is officially now open for the 2025 season!! 💙 Located near Seneca Lake in New York State’s Finger Lakes region, roughly a 4.5 hour drive from NYC, it’s a perfect spot for a weekend getaway. 💙 You’ll find a few different trails but make sure to not miss the popular Gorge Trail, roughly 1.5 miles one-way, which lets you walk behind two awesome waterfalls!! I recommend starting the trail at the Franklin Street entrance. 💙 Make sure to have your walking shoes, hiking boots preferred as some of the trails can get slippery with lots of puddles from the waterfalls. 💙 Be prepared for steps, and while these are spread out along the trail, you will climb roughly 800 of them along the one-way journey. 💙 Best to visit early in the morning to beat the crowds during the peak summer months. Weekdays are also recommended if possible. 💙 There is a $10 parking fee per vehicle. You’ll find two lots on Franklin Street or a two larger lots at the South Entrance to the park. ⛔️ Note starting July 7th there will be some construction and the Sentry Bridge will be closed, but the gorge trail will still be accessible via the North Rim Trail at the Main, South and North entrances. #watkinsglenstatepark #newyorkhiddengems
