@honestly_frank: Someone had to say it. We should be teaching #Christianity in #PublicSchools in #America 😤 - Along with all of the other #Mythologies #Atheist #Atheism #God #Godless #Godlessness #Christian #Jewish #Islamic #Muslim #Hinduism #Hindu #Egyptian #Greek #Zeus #Thor #Ra #PublicSchool #School #Education #Mythology #American #AmericanSchool #IfYouReadThisHashtagYouWinCongratulationsImSoProudOfYou 🥳
In Finland the classes are literally called just “Religion”. It isn’t “believe in God!”, it is a historical view of what is said to have happened that led to the religion, how the religion changed-

As a Catholic, I completely agree! I also think that this would completely block out A LOT of hatred when they grow up, and if they chose to follow a religion when they are older, they already have some background! Christianity especially needs to be explained to alot of people because people only see the bad sides!

in the UK we do RE (religious education) lessons, meant to spend 1/6 of the year focusing on each major world religion and teaching them all equally ie not saying one religion trumps the others

I believe the Bible stories the way we believe the Greek mythology stories, they’re stories to teach lessons

As a Christian, I agree with this. I know most of the ‘evidence’ I have is subjective; I think people should know which stories are based on real events and what made people think a deity was involved

Exactly! If we teach one we're going to teach the rest! My high school actually offered a world religion class although it was taught by a Christian man it was still pretty informative!

Just them the Rick Riordan books, then have them research and compare the actual tales. That way they can have fun and learn the stories at the same time.

agreed, in the UK we have to do religious education, which covers the 6 main religions, and you sit an exam on 2 of them

Why is this a conversation because in uk I was taught about modern mythologies like Jewish, Islam and Hindu in high school and did Greek and Norse in primary (elementary) school
