Support Universal Basic Income :
"seeing jobs replaced by AI" that's part of the reason why I support a universal basic income

We’re already using infrastructure that’s outdated and vulnerable. AI has great potential, but until that underlying infrastructure is better reinforced relying so much on it is insanity.

I’m just worried AI will learn to lie to us in order to control us.

It just makes zero sense to me to have AI do the thinking for us at any level. We need to use our brains. When I was a kid I knew the phone numbers of all friends and family - my phone does that now..

We train the machines. You still have to master the math and work the logic. It’s just a tool and it gives us leverage.

Socrates (?) said we shouldn't write because it makes our brains rot and weakens our memory and while there might be some merit to that I feel we are better off with the advancements even if worse

This is why I’m not worried about AI, we’ve seen this pattern 100 times over in history. It’s a tool, it’ll change the marketplace but it has his limitations and we will adapt

I think the most important thing is learning to interact with AI as a partner rather than someone that can simply do your work for you. This opens possibilities, it opened possibilities to me.

Good points, but they mirror criticisms recorded at the dawn of literacy - that the availability of books erodes memory and reasoning. As ever, the challenge is to augment human reason w new media, not replace it.

AI is being used in so many different ways but it's important that we use it properly, unfortunately when corporations use it to target us it becomes a problem and it will get worse.

I hear you, but paradigms have yet to shift to account for this, and as they do many fears will be assuaged. Several won't, but we'll have smarter people (because of AI) and more advanced AI to combat

looks at who owns them, looks at how it serves those tech companies to have LLM that are a gray area so you don't know as a lay person what they are really good for.

Asking if there is anything out of the norm is not the same ask asking it what is outside of the norm. One still requires human analysis, the other doesn't.
